Body Talk

“After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church.”  Ephesians 5:29

This is crazy talk! Paul, who wrote this scripture, obviously had no sisters or friends who were woman! I don’t think I have ever met a woman who LOVES EVERYTHING about their body especially after having babies.

My body is often my punching bag. I say I am going to eat healthy, I say I am going to work out, I say I am going to purge toxins, I say I am going to love my flaws, I say I am going to look in the mirror and not be critical or self deprecating. The good choices simply don’t happen very often.

Not only am I hurting myself with the way I care for and feed my body but I am hurting God more than anything.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.”
Our body is from God.

It is not our own!
Our body should reflect Christ.
My heart understands this but my brain does not.
Can we gift ourselves with something? Lets’ make an intentional effort to love who God made us.
I can't tell you I know exactly how to do that but I do know how to say "thank you". I can start there. "Thank you God, for my body"
Who’s in?
