The Guilt Chapter

Chapter three of Revolutionary Parenting by George Barna is what I have renamed the guilt chapter.  I feel guilty when I read it because it reminds me how much work I have to do. But I am thankful for the nudges it provides me to be a better wife, mom, and most importantly child of God.

Here is how Barna and his research defines the qualities of a revolutionary parent.
Revolutionary Parents…
  • Fight against cultural norms
  • Do what is right based on biblical principles
  • Are likely to be single-income households
  • Schedule time to spend with their children each day
  • Intentionally identify their children as their main focus in life during the parenting years
  • Make raising children their priority because of their Christian faith
  • Have family conversations that bring biblical views into their lives
  • Regularly engage in faith activities
  • Are directly involved in the spiritual lives of their kids
  • Have a deep love for their children
  • See parenting as their mission in life
  • Build relationships with their kids
  • Have conversations about moral and spiritual matters frequently and easily
  • Consistently honor God by pursuing their personal faith maturity
