Battling Complacency

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Luke 11:9

While not intentional I consider Luke 11:9 the first Bible verse I memorized. I am not even sure I realized it was a Bible verse since I was singing it as part of a song that was sung in Elementary chapel.

But what I am sure of is that I BELIEVE this verse.

Ask and it will be given to you.
Seek and you will find.
Knock and the door will be opened.

When I hear people say “I am waiting for God to let me know what direction I should be going” I redirect them to this verse.
These are all action words!
It doesn’t say...

"Wait around and it will arrive at your door step.
Watch your TV and the answer will appear.
Do the same thing you always do and adventures will show up."

NO!!!!
It says ASK, SEEK, & KNOCK!!!!
MOVE!!!!

God is an active God and He wants us to be active in our call to love Him, love others, and spread His word. As active as our kids are. Mine don't stop moving except to sleep.

Watching how He works is incredible. I have been journaling or keeping a diary since I was 5 years old (spelling in it cracks me up). My favorite part of journaling is that I have the ability to look back and see how God has "given" and "opened"! Is it always the way I planned it in my head???? NO WAY!!!! But it is always the best way because it is God’s way.

If you currently are not a prayer journaler I would ask that you consider it so that you too can watch God MOVING! I have developed a fun little resource to help you get started today. You can get Praying with Pictures {a journal} today.
Enjoy!
