{Day 17} Study

I spent more time studying lines for shows
in HS then I did studying for tests. Opps!

What sixteen year old isn’t excited to get their drivers license?
That would be me.
I turned 16 early my sophomore year but I was perfectly content to have others drive me around.
Truth be told despite the fact that I had taken Drivers Ed I didn’t feel ready.  I can clearly remember continuing to sit in the back seat of my parents’ car just watching. More than hands on practice I felt like I learned more about driving by studying other drivers. Strange?
I feel like this is the story of my life. While I am a horrific test taker I am a fabulous student. I will listen intently, ask questions, and try my hardest. I will also fine tune all that I have learned to make it my own.
Stepping Stone #7
Study those you admire.
I know some people get a nudge in their heart and they just rocket forward. I am glad that works for them. For me I have to take those God given nudges such as starting a blog, being a missionary, starting a business, starting an Etsy shop, figuring out how to have a clean house, being physically fit, etc…and study the best of the best. Learn from them.
What works for them?
What doesn’t work for them?
But sadly studying others can take a flip, can’t it?
It can turn from a well meaning time to learn from others into a lesson in envy.
I have been there. So here is what I want to do for us today. I want to pray for us.
God,
Thank you! Thank you for who you created us to be. Thank you for the unique gifts that each one of us possesses. Help us. Help us to learn from each other. Share with each other. Be proud of each other. God, help us to STOP in our tracks if we find ourselves headed down a road of jealousy and call out to you. Help us to take each step in our day with humility. We love you.
Amen

Break free Activity:
Identify three people who do what you desire for this time in your journey and study them.
Identify what it is you admire about them.
Identify what is unique about you that you can bring to the table.
